BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs

Dr. Maria Stewart is a mathematics educator with a Ph.D. in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum from the University of Missouri, as well as two degrees from Bowling Green State University focused on secondary mathematics education. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Oklahoma State University. Previously she was a high school mathematics teacher in Ohio for three years. Her primary strand of research is focused on understanding the experiences of beginning teachers as they transition into the field of education. Dr. Stewart's second area of research is focused on learning how teachers develop expertise in and implement ambitious mathematics instruction.
