TEACHING SUMMARY

Jayne Ann is currently serving in her fourth year as a full-time teaching instructor for the Online Elementary Education program at Oklahoma State University. During her time as an adjunct faculty instructor, she was the assistant director for the Randall and Carol White Reading and Mathematics Center. This center served approximately 250 elementary aged students per year. In her role she helped coordinate tutor-tutee matches, assisted university tutors with selection of materials and teaching techniques, and served as a community liaison. Additionally Jayne Ann taught two literacy courses required as part of the degree plan for elementary education juniors and seniors.  She began teaching full time on campus at OSU from January 2017-May 2019 and served as Lecturer in the Literacy Department teachig all four core literacy courses including Children's Literature, Teaching Reading at the Elementary and Middle Levels, Teaching Language Arts at the Elementary and Middle Levels, and Literacy Assessment. Beginning in August of 2020, she worked as an online instructor for the Introduction to Teaching and Learning course. These experiences allowed her to not only contribute to the education of future teachers but also to hone her skills in using online platforms for engaging instruction. She had the distinct privilege of working closely with university faculty to seek needed technology and resources for the reading and mathematics center. Her full time online teaching faculty position began in August of 2021 and has taught undergraduate and graduate students in the OSU Online Elementary Education program.

During her 25 years as a public school elementary teacher, she served as a classroom teacher in K, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades and was also an enrichment teacher for students in 1st through 5th grades. Working as an Instructional Coach for a 2nd-3rd grade school, she helped facilitate professional development sessions for the site and district, including site testing coordinator as well as mentoring first-year teachers. Working side-by-side with other teachers, they carefully analyzed data and made instructional decisions for the students. As an integral part of the Mathematics Cadre in one of her former school districts, teacher leaders were charged with the instruction and implementation of mathematics curriculum for teachers and students in grades K-5. Working from the ground up, the Math Cadre formed goals and objectives to meet the needs of the district. As a part of the cadre, Jayne Ann led many workshops for administrators, teachers, and parents.
