    Prior to entering academia, Brent spent 5 years in industry working as an actuary at Lincoln Financial Group, a financial analyst at Zions Bancorporation, and a program analyst at Orbital ATK. He also taught Spanish for 2.5 years.

     

    Brent's primary research involves entrepreneurial uncertainty and strategic judgment. He also studies the impact of emerging technology on decision makers and organizations. His work has been published in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Small Business Economics, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Journal of Management, the Journal of Business Ethics, and others.

    Dr. Kristen (Kincy) Madison is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and holds the Student Ventures Chair in the School of Entrepreneurship at Oklahoma State University. Prior to joining the faculty at OSU, she was an Assistant Professor and an affiliate of the Center of Family Enterprise Research at Mississippi State University. She received her Ph.D. in Organizations and Strategy from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Madison is a family business scholar, with much of her research investigating the influence of family-related characteristics on family firm performance and on the treatment and perceptions of nonfamily employees. Her research has been published in top entrepreneurship journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Family Business Review, and others. Dr. Madison has received numerous accolades for her research, including the National Federation of Independent Business Award for Excellence in Research on the General Topic of Entrepreneurship, the Best Article Award in Family Business Review, the Research Scholar Award from the Family Owned Business Institute, and the Outstanding Entrepreneurial Scholar Award from the School of Entrepreneurship at Oklahoma State University. She serves on the editorial review boards of Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Family Business Review, and Journal of Family Business Strategy. Her exceptional service to the field has been awarded with the Excellent Reviewer Award from Family Business Review in three different years. Dr. Madison served as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Management Association and in leadership roles in their Entrepreneurship and Family Business Track. She currently serves on the Entrepreneurship Division Research Committee of Academy of Management to help promote and acknowledge research excellence in the field of entrepreneurship.

His research resides at the intersection of entrepreneurship and strategic management to examine how and why new and existing organizations combine opportunity- and advantage-seeking decisions and behaviors that lead to innovation and value creation. Dr. Payne’s has over 90 peer-reviewed publications appearing in journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Family Business Review (FBR), Journal of Business Venturing (JBV), Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Organizational Science, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, among others. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of FBR and currently a Field Editor for JBV, which is the top journal dedicated to the study of entrepreneurship.

    Dr. Rutherford is Professor, Johnny Pope Chair in the School of Entrepreneurship at Oklahoma State University. Previously, Dr. Rutherford was Associate Professor of Management at Virginia Commonwealth University where he oversaw the entrepreneurship program.
