BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs

Christine Johnson serves as associate vice president for research and is a professor in the department of human development and family science at Oklahoma State University. Her portfolio includes research communications, undergraduate research experiences (e.g., Niblack Research Scholars program), and special programs and recognition for faculty (e.g., Regents Distinguished Research Award). Prior to joining the Office of the Vice President for Research, she was the associate dean for research and graduate studies in the College of Education and Human Sciences at OSU. In that position, she led the Faculty Scholars year-long faculty development program for first-year faculty, taught freshmen in the college's Freshman Research Scholars program, co-taught PhD students in a college-wide doctoral program seminar, worked closely with the college's graduate program coordinator, and served as advisor to the college's graduate student association. During her tenure in the College of Education and Human Sciences she also provided administrative leadership for the college's technology, marketing and communications, and alumni relations areas. Prior to becoming associate dean, she was director of the OSU Bureau for Social Research — a university-wide research center that supported behavioral and social science research efforts on campus. The bureau utilized multiple methods of data collection, including focus groups, questionnaires, and interviewing. Her expertise in research methodology includes questionnaire design, methods to improve survey response rates, and observational data collection strategies.

Research Interests:

My research interests include early career faculty development; research design and methodology; family science and human development, including marriage and marriage education programs.
