BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs
Amanda Harrist is an emeritus professor in Human Development & Family Science at Oklahoma State University and holds the Bryan Close Professorship in Early Childhood Development. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and her PhD in Child Development from the University of Tennessee. She joined the OSU faculty in 1998. She was the Associate Director for Translation & Education at OSU's Center for Family Resilience and editor of a book series published by Springer titled, Emerging Issues in Family and Individual Resilience.

* Kindergarten classroom interventions to facilitate inclusive play

The GAL may be an attorney or a court-appointed special advocate (CASA)—or both—who has received appropriate training.1 The GAL represents the child at all judicial proceedings related to the case and has the responsibility to perform the following tasks: (1) Obtain firsthand a clear understanding of the situation and needs of the child (2)Make recommendations to the court concerning the best interests of the child. In Oklahoma, a CASA is used as the GAL.
