BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs
Associate Professor Jay Yowell has been teaching at OSU since 2017 after 13 years of adjunct teaching. He graduated from OSU in 1994 and received his Master of Architecture degree from OU in 2011. Jay continues to practice architecture in Oklahoma after working in Dallas, TX for 7 years and Oklahoma City for 3 years.
Professor Yowell's scholarship and research activities build upon his over 25 years of sustainable design, focused on biomimicry and alternative materials. Jay is active with service as an advisor to 2 student groups: Construction Specifications Institute and Freedom by Design. Recent research has led him to study the application of mycelium as a building material.
