Wendy Bickford

Professor Wendy Bickford is a former clarinetist with "The President’s Own" United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C, serving under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.  In addition to performing concerts, White House events, national concert tours and funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, she performed as a soloist and chamber musician and gave masterclasses as well as participated in several educational outreach initiatives across the United States.  

Professor Bickford is currently principal clarinet with the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, auxiliary clarinet in the Billings Symphony Orchestra and performs with Philadelphia area orchestras and chamber ensembles.  She has performed in venues such as the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts (D.C.), Kimmel Center (PA), Boettcher Concert Hall (CO), Strathmore Concert Hall (MD), El Auditorio - Palacio de Congreso de Zaragoza in Spain and the Mexican Embassy (D.C.). Professor Bickford made her concerto debut with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in the spring of 1999.  She has also been a featured soloist with the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, Temple Wind Symphony and “The President’s Own” Marine Band.  

Professor Bickford has been the Artist Lecturer of Clarinet at Moravian University, a Teaching Artist for Play On Philly’s Marian Anderson Young Artist Program and Visiting Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of Montana.  While in Montana, she established a clarinet ensemble program for the middle school and high school students in the Billings community.

Professor Bickford earned degrees in clarinet performance from the Peabody Institute (B.M.) and the University of Northern Colorado (M.M.)  She is currently finishing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Temple University, studying with Ricardo Morales of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her other prominent teachers include Mark Nuccio, Samuel Caviezel, Yehuda Gilad, Edward Palanker and Bil Jackson.
