K12 STEM Teacher Conference

The proposed 2026 Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science includes “Connections to Scientific Literacy”. Nature of science (characteristics of scientific knowledge and how scientific knowledge is developed) is a critical component of scientific literacy. Participants will learn about the eight scientific literacy connections, how those connections are related to the three-dimensional standards, and some practical ways to integrate these connections in science lessons.

The K-12 STEM Teacher Conference provides teachers with opportunities to engage with other educators, serving to provide ideas and examples of STEM learning in action. Attendees can select from a variety of sessions pertaining to mathematics, science, STEM, or integrated STEM content (e.g., agriculture and science), Center for Research in STEM Teaching and Learning (CRSTL)

Not all labs or science lessons are true inquiry or promote 3-dimensional learning. However, there’s no need to throw away all of your teaching materials and start from scratch. This training will cover simple steps to how to improve any science activity and make it more student-focused.
