Sooyoung Lee

Sooyoung Lee is an accomplished pianist who has performed a wide range of repertoire from early music to contemporary both as a soloist and chamber musician.  Originally from South Korea, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Keimyung University, after which she moved to Germany to continue her musical studies.  It was in Germany that she solidified her musical style.  After a briefly studying with Georg Sava in Berlin, she was admitted to the Leopold Mozart College of Music in Augsburg, where she studied solo piano under the direction of Evgenia Rubinova.  As a soloist, she has performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 with the University of Augsburg Orchestra under the direction of conductor Bernd-Georg Mettke and has also performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Stadtbergen Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Tristan Uth. In 2011, she was awarded First Prize at the Siegfried Gschwilm Piano competition.

In parallel to her solo work in Augsburg, Sooyoung developed her skills and style as a collaborative pianist, starting as a substitute pianist at the university auditions in her first year master studies and becoming a faculty collaborative pianist soon after.  She worked extensively in the string department, especially focused on the violin classes of Linus Roth and Bernhard Tluck, and also for master classes by Salvatore Accardo and Linus Roth.

In Fall 2026, Sooyoung joined the Greenwood School of Music as Visiting Artist in Residence in Collaborative Piano.
