BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs

Dr. Mattison has training as a biomedical engineer. His core philosophy is to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and practical application, developing technologies that can meaningfully improve lives and further scientific research. Dr. Mattison's research focuses on advancing molecular-specific and functional imaging, with an emphasis on pump-probe imaging modalities, to better characterize dynamic biological phenomena at high resolution, contrast, and specificity.


Dr. Mattison's laboratory at Oklahoma State University is dedicated to the development of optical imaging platforms and signal processing algorithms that push the boundaries of sensitivity, specificity, and speed in biomedical imaging. Drawing from his extensive background in biomedical optics, he designs instrumentation that integrates both structural and functional imaging modalities, with the goal of translating these innovations into tools for clinical and scientific research.
