TEACHING SUMMARY

Content-wise, I teach transnational Europe in the modern era. In all my courses, my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that university is a place to empower my students and nurture lifelong habits of mind. I bring public history methodologies into my classes, focus on building analytical skills via applied learning, and encourage creative thinking and expression. I also make sure to emphasize that history is unfailingly personal--both in the past and in the present. Pedagogical research shows students engage more when they develop a personal commitment to their studies, so I take time to seek out, listen to, and collaborate with students to find the points they connect with.
