TEACHING SUMMARY

At the undergraduate level, Dr. Richtsmeier teaches a course that introduces students to research concepts (experimental design, levels of evidence, etc.) from the perspective of communication sciences and disorders. At the graduate level, he teaches three courses related to speech, language, and literacy disorders. These graduate courses emphasize evidence-based practices for assessment and treatment.

    Assessment and treatment of literacy disorders and disorders of complex oral language. Clients include school-aged children, adolescents, and young adults. Students will make connections between literacy conventions and the structure of spoken language including complex phrases and sentences. The course includes current standards of practice as well as attention to changes derived from evidence-based practice.
