Rebekah Silverstein

I teach the Fundamentals of Metadata course for ALA Core (2024–present), an online professional development course covering metadata standards (MARC, Dublin Core, RDA, MODS), schema transformation, and metadata workflow design. I've taught multiple terms with cohorts of 20–30 librarians working in academic, public, and special library settings. Teaching this course requires a clear articulation of standards-based decision-making and the ability to translate standards into practical examples for people working in libraries. I also teach OSU Libraries Data Bytes workshops in M365 Power BI and Co-instruct Data Carpentry workshops in R, MarcEdit, and OpenRefine.
