Mike Schoonover

Dr. Mike J. Schoonover is a Tenured Professor of Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine and the Ricks-Rapp Professor in Musculoskeletal Research at Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Schoonover received his doctorate from Oklahoma State in 2000, went on to completed an equine ambulatory internship at the Ohio State University, and returned to his alma mater for an equine surgery residency and Master’s Degree program which he completed in 2005. He then spent 8 years in a private equine specialty practice before re-joining Oklahoma State in 2012 as a permanent faculty member. He is board certified in large animal surgery and equine sports medicine and rehabilitation.  His clinical practice focuses on western performance horses and his research interests are in intravenous regional limb perfusion techniques and objective lameness evaluation modalities.
