TEACHING SUMMARY

My primary courses are Evolution, a large survey course for upper level undergraduates, Animal Communication, which is a mixed graduate/undergraduate course, and Animal Behavior for undergraduates. My aims in teaching are to building students critical thinking by emphasizing the theoretical and conceptual aspects of these subjects, with a heavy focus on interpretation of data from the primary literature.

I also mentor undergraduate research for credit and deliver graduate seminars. These include a seminar on "Mate Choice and The Evolution of Beauty", and "Research Mentoring - Philosophy and Practice".
