BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs
Linkan Bian is Professor and Head, and Donald & Cathey Humphreys Chair of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) at Oklahoma State University. Prior to joining OSU, he served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation, where he founded and led the Advanced Manufacturing, Design, and Operations (AMDO) program and managed a large national research portfolio. He was previously the Thomas B. & Terri L. Nusz Endowed Professor in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Mississippi State University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and has held multiple leadership roles within the professional community.
Dr. Bian’s research focuses on the development of data‑ and physics‑integrated methods for advanced manufacturing and engineering systems. His interests include: (1) Process–structure–property–performance modeling in manufacturing systems, (2) Data‑enabled and AI‑assisted manufacturing and quality engineering, (3) Uncertainty quantification, reliability, and robust design, (4) In‑situ monitoring, sensing, and control of manufacturing processes, (5) Additive and advanced manufacturing technologies, (6) Systems integration across design, manufacturing, and operations. His work aims to advance fundamental understanding while enabling practical, scalable solutions for modern manufacturing and industrial systems.
