Students will gain an understanding of the psychology of African Americans drawing upon African and American cultures and perspectives. The course will cover the foundations of African American psychology, African philosophy, Africentric psychology, intrapersonal and interpersonal topics such as family and community, peers and friends, racial identity, and select social issues among African Americans such as physical and mental health, education, racism, and employment.
