TEACHING SUMMARY

Dr. Hansen teaches a range of courses in comparative politics and international relations, including conflict mediation and peacebuilding, ethnic conflict, global political economy, Russian and Central Asian politics, and international organizations. As a first-generation scholar who got her start as an undergraduate researcher, Dr. Hansen is passionate about sharing that experience with her students. She has served as a research mentor and co-author to several Wentz Research Award recipients, Freshman Research Scholars, AURCA students, and other undergraduates pursuing independent research projects. She also serves as Oklahoma State’s chapter advisor for Pi Sigma Alpha, the official political science honor society. 

 

She has received multiple recognitions for her teaching in mentorship, including the 2024 Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award at the College of Arts and Sciences Student Awards Ceremony, the 2017 Marlene Strathe Distinguished Educational Leadership Award from the OSU Office of Leadership and Campus Life, and in 2018 was named as the Golden Torch Award recipient from the College of Arts and Sciences by the Achafoa Chapter of the Mortar Board Honor Society. In 2025, she was named one of five Best Chapter Advisors by Pi Sigma Alpha and received Oklahoma State University's Leave the Ladder Down award, which recognizes mentorship and encouragement of others.
