TEACHING SUMMARY
Dr. Kelly S Harrison's teaching focuses on leveraging the individualism of her students; tailoring instruction to meet their diverse needs and learning styles. By engaging them actively in the learning process through discussions, hands-on experiments, and case studies, she aims to create an environment where students take ownership of their education. This not only enhances their comprehension but also promotes a lifelong commitment to intellectual exploration. Recognizing the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of students, she is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Kelly aims to create a classroom where all students feel valued, respected, and supported thereby promoting a collaborative atmosphere conducive to learning.
Dr. Harrison integrates her research findings and experiences into the classroom, incorporating cutting-edge research and real-world applications. By doing so, she ensures that students not only gain a strong foundational understanding of specific concepts but also develop an appreciation for the ongoing advancements and challenges within STEM. Kelly strives to provide guidance, encouragement, and individualized support to help students identify their strengths, overcome challenges, and pursue their academic and professional goals. As a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honorary Society, Society for Neuroscience, AAAS, ASV and AWiS, she has several colleagues and collaborators to assist in mentorship and provide a network of support for her students.
