TEACHING SUMMARY

Dr. Hugo Oswaldo Ferrer Toledo has over 25 years of teaching experience across undergraduate and graduate programs in civil, structural, geotechnical, seismic, and materials engineering. He has taught a wide array of courses including Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Structural Analysis, Soil Mechanics, Pavement Design, Seismic Engineering, and specialized laboratories in soils, structures, and materials.

As Professor of Professional Practice at Oklahoma State University, he teaches core civil engineering courses and develops interactive 3D teaching resources, laboratory enhancements, and educational videos that foster hands-on and conceptual learning. Previously, as Dean of Engineering at UPAEP, he championed curriculum redesigns, introduced innovative programs like Aerospace Engineering and Biotechnology, and integrated laboratory-based learning across disciplines, including engineering and veterinary sciences.

Dr. Ferrer places strong emphasis on the practical application of engineering concepts through lab instruction, project-based learning, and collaborative industry initiatives. He has supervised numerous theses and capstone projects, and actively mentors students in multidisciplinary and international contexts. His commitment to educational excellence extends to training teaching assistants, organizing academic competitions and exhibitions, and fostering inclusive learning environments that prepare students for global engineering challenges.
