With apologies to Mrs. Griffin, my high school Latin teacher, I think the motto of the extension specialist ought to be "semper discens, semper perdocens – always learning, always teaching."

I teach many students -- first and foremost are county extension educators. I also educate farmers and ranchers, Oklahoma and tribal citizens residing in our state, governmental and non-governmental agency personnel, practicing engineers, and scientists. Each group has its own needs and learning styles. I create a diverse set of educational materials to meet these needs: tweets, infographics, podcasts, blog posts, press releases, lectures, videos, factsheets, and referred journal articles. These curricula are used in a multitude of learning environments including community meetings, field days, college classrooms, in-service training sessions, and on-line courses -- not to mention visits to the local extension office and on-line searches.

I also take an active role in the formation of tomorrow's environmental managers. I have given numerous lectures in Biosystems Engineering, Animal Science, and Environmental Science classes. I created two graduate special problem courses: Material Handling in Agricultural Waste Management and Comprehensive Nutrient Management Planning in Animal Agriculture.
