Brett Carver

Originating from Atlanta, GA, Dr. Carver attended the University of Georgia in Athens, where he studied and worked under Dr. Weaver (cotton geneticist) and Dr. R.H. Brown (crop physiologist), two influential agronomists who shaped and directed his career in crop science. Dr. Carver continued his education at North Carolina State University, conducting research in soybean lipid biochemistry under the direction of Dr. Rich Wilson (M.S. program) and in soybean genetics and breeding (PhD program with Dr. Joe Burton). In 1985, Dr. Carver joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University to begin a research and teaching career in quantitative genetics and wheat germplasm development. In 1998, Dr. Carver transitioned into leading the OSU Wheat Improvement Team and conducting a wheat breeding and genetics research program. His work in wheat variety development continues a long tradition at OSU that began in the mid-1940s by Dr. A.M. Schlehuber, and continued by Dr. E.L. Smith from 1966 to 1998.
