BIO & RESEARCH INTERESTs
I am a proud native of Oklahoma and take pride in serving the citizens of this great state. I received my undergraduate degree in biology from Oklahoma Baptist University, where I also played on the varsity women's golf team. After college I obtained a Master of Public Health at Yale Universiry before returning to Tulsa for medical school at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine. I completed residency training in psychiatry at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where I served as a chief resident. I have received several honors including induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. I now serve as an academic psychiatrist and enjoy teaching the next generation of physicians and psychiatrists. Clinically I work in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, inpatient, outpatient, and consultation-liaison psychiatry, and am a provider of electroconvulsive therapy. I have special clinical interest in complex management of treatment refractory mood and psychotic disorders, and psychiatric management in the medically ill. My research interests include medical education, chronic disease prevention among individuals with serious mental illness, and clinical practice interventions for improving psychiatric care.
