TEACHING SUMMARY

Dr. Lewis teaches courses in Construction Engineering Technology that prepare students for professional practice in the construction industry. Her teaching areas include construction law, scheduling, MEP systems, project controls, introductory construction concepts, and emerging construction technologies. Drawing on more than three decades of industry experience, she integrates field-based examples, construction documents, project schedules, contracts, dispute scenarios, and industry case studies into the classroom.

Her teaching emphasizes applied learning, workforce readiness, and the connection between academic preparation and construction practice. Students engage with industry tools and workflows, including Primavera P6, Procore-related processes, scheduling analysis, project controls, and emerging uses of artificial intelligence in construction. Her courses are designed to help students develop technical knowledge, professional judgment, and the ability to interpret and solve real construction problems.

Dr. Lewis also promotes student engagement with the construction industry through guest speakers, professional organizations, student competitions, and industry partnerships. She advises and supports students involved in construction-related organizations and competitions, including CMS, AGC, DBIA, and related industry activities. Her teaching reflects a commitment to preparing students to enter the construction workforce with practical skills, professional confidence, and an understanding of current industry expectations.
